DATE & TIME
May 24, 2025, 7PM – 11PM
Q: Why are you having an old-style dance? Why not do modern dances?
A: Because I’m old! I was raised on old style dancing, and I’d like to recreate and share some of those memories with you.
Q: I’d like to celebrate your birthday, but I really don’t like dancing.
A: That’s OK. But this party is all about dancing, and while I’d love for you to be there, I wouldn’t want you to be bored or not enjoy yourself. So don’t feel obligated to come if you REALLY don’t enjoy dancing.
Q: The invite says formal attire. What does that mean?
A: I wanted to have a night where we can dress up and be elegant. But I don’t want you to spend any money. So pull out that old ball dress, wedding or mother of the bride dress, suit or tuxedo that you never get to wear.
Wear as much bling as you’d like. Dress like a princess (or a prince!). If you want to wear formal attire from a different decade or even a different century, then do it! (Or just wear something nice).
Q: Is the invite only for me, or can I bring my partner and/or friends?
A: Of course! Please bring anyone you like, just let me know who is coming.
Q: How do I join in if I don’t have a partner?
A: There will only be a few dances that need partners, but for the rest of the night, you’ll be able to join in with the dancing.
Q: What type of dancing will there be?
A: A bit of a mix. Some old stuff like the Barn Dance, Military Two-Step, Waltz, and Jive, plus some silly ones like Nutbush City Limits, the Macarena, and more.
Q: What will happen if I don’t know any of those dances.
A: Most of the dances are very simple, and we’ll be giving instructions, so you can learn on the night. Plus, some dances like the Jive and Slow Rhythm will be to modern music, so you can dance freestyle if you prefer.
Q: Is food and drink provided?
A: Have dinner before you come (so you have the energy to dance!). Light refreshments will be provided. Please BYO alcohol. We’ll provide soft drinks, tea, and coffee.
Q: Can I bring my kids?
A: Absolutely! Bring the whole tribe, including your adult children and their partners. (But if you bring kids under 8 years old, it may mean you’ll need to sit out some dances to keep an eye on them.)
Q: Do I need to bring presents?
A: Definitely not! The best present you can give me is to come along on the night, enjoy yourself, and leave with a smile on your face.
Q: What if my partner doesn’t want to dance?
A: Leave them home and come on your own. 😊
